Support Small Businesses and Job Creation

Small businesses are the backbone of Yuma’s economy. Local entrepreneurs create jobs, strengthen neighborhoods, and bring innovation to our community. As mayor, I want to make Yuma one of the most business-friendly cities in Arizona by reducing unnecessary obstacles and creating opportunities for growth.

One-Stop Permit Center

Opening a business should not require navigating multiple departments and complicated paperwork. I will work to create a one-stop permit center where entrepreneurs can access licensing, permits, and inspections in a single place. By simplifying the process and improving communication, we can help new businesses open faster and operate more efficiently.

Review and Simplify Regulations

Over time, regulations can become outdated or unnecessarily complicated. I support reviewing city rules that impact small businesses and simplifying regulations where possible while still maintaining safety and community standards. Clearer rules make it easier for entrepreneurs to succeed.

Small Business Grants and Financial Partnerships

I will work with state and federal programs to pursue micro-grants and financial partnerships that support small businesses. These programs can help entrepreneurs invest in equipment, storefront improvements, and expansion opportunities.

Promote Local Businesses

Supporting local businesses also means helping them attract customers. Community initiatives such as local markets, festivals, and “shop local” campaigns can highlight businesses throughout the city and encourage residents to support the local economy.

Small Business Advisory Council

I plan to establish a Small Business Advisory Council made up of local entrepreneurs who can meet regularly with city leadership and provide direct input on policies affecting businesses.
